Ebay Motors launched in April, 2000. Simon Rothman, discovered that there was a thriving used-car marketplace within the larger Ebay site. Primarily considered a marketplace for car collectors, Ebay Motors has evolved into a destination for individual buyers, sellers, and dealers, as well as collectors. In addition to providing car research and information, buyers can find most anything they want in the way of parts or accessories on the site. Ebay Motors made a great mix of modifications in 2007, namely Ebay Motors Local Market, where dealers can post 100% of their inventory for a flat fee, presenting listings to users within a 100-mile radius of their zip code; Ebay Motors 2.0 includes new shopping tools, and a simple search box with an optional zip code field; and Finding 2.0, an expanded car-search tool, having significant criteria and drill-down links.
